Muhammad Ilyas Sheikh‘s illustrious career in law commenced after completing his foundational education at Gordon College, Rawalpindi, followed by an LLB from the prestigious Punjab University. His journey in the legal field took flight in May 1985 when he was admitted as an advocate to the District Court, marking the beginning of an extraordinary legal odyssey. By June 1987, his expertise and dedication propelled him to the High Court, and in 2001, he achieved the distinguished status of Advocate Supreme Court, a testament to his profound knowledge and legal acumen.
Muhammad Ilyas Sheikh‘s leadership capabilities shone brightly during his tenure as the President of the District Bar Association, Rawalpindi, in 2003-2004, where he was instrumental in advocating for the rights of legal practitioners and enhancing the standards of legal practice.
He embarked on his legal journey by initiating practice in civil courts, where he handled numerous trial cases upon becoming an advocate of the district court. Following this, he continued his legal pursuits in various high courts, including the Islamabad High Court, overseeing a plethora of cases. As he ascended to the position of an advocate of the supreme court, his caseload expanded, with him successfully managing over 500 cases to date. Presently, he navigates through a diverse array of cases across all branches of civil law, from the lower courts to the apex court of Pakistan.
With unwavering dedication and divine grace, he has achieved remarkable success throughout his career. His mentorship has extended to over 150 associates, guiding them to flourish in various fields of civil law. Committed to nurturing young legal minds, he shares his expertise through lectures conducted across various branches of civil law in Rawalpindi. Additionally, he has overseen preparatory courses for civil judges and additional district judges under the auspices of the bar association.
Actively participating in movements advocating for the rule of law, the supremacy of the constitution, and the dignity of the legal community and judiciary, he has been a stalwart leader. As the president of the District Bar Rawalpindi from 2003 to 2004, he led efforts to uphold the rule of law and restore democracy. Notably, he played a pivotal role in laying the foundation of the judicial complex.
